HAPA HALLOWEEN: MYSTERIES OF HAWAIʻI IN CONCERT
Intro
The 25/26 HapaSymphony series starts with chicken skin Hawaiian tales by master storyteller Lopaka Kapanui, “The Ghost Guy.” The author of four spooky story compilations, including Haunted Hawaiiian Nights and The Legend of Morgan's Corner, Kapanui joins your Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra and HSO Composer in Residence Michael-Thomas Foumai for a concert ghost tour paired with spooky symphonic favorites, The Mysteries of Hawaiʻi in Concert! Featuring music from The Lord of the Rings, Poltergeist, Batman, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and more, come as yourself or come dressed up for pre-concert activities 1-hour before concert, including our annual costume contest and trick-or-treating, “This is Halloween!”

Raiatea Helm reunites with your Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra and conductor Michael-Thomas Foumai for an all-new program of her favorite traditional mele recorded live at the Historic Hawaii Theatre.
Her authentic “leo ki'eki'e” (Female falsetto) and ukulele playing have dazzled audiences all over the world. Moloka'i native Raiatea continues to champion mele while educating the next generation on Hawai'i’s rich history through traditional song and dance.
